This Week in the Studio

(Actually it was last week but I ran out of steam to post this over the weekend when my other major project - finishing the electrical system on my tiny home - ran longer than it should have and ate up all my energy)

Since I'm no longer posting on social media - or at least not until there's a less evil option for creatives out there - I thought it might be fun to share some of what I'm making here in a weekly post, so here it is for the week of Jan 20th. By no means everything that came through my workspace but a little taste of what I got up to in this corner of Oregon.

As ever, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

A little 1" silk in Mustard

This is Toinette. I named it after the French queen (misquoted for that thing about cake - apparently misinformation has always been a thing) because it made me think of her dresses for some reason. Later I found a book of samples kept by her maid in charge of her wardrobe and this colour does indeed feature as one of her favourites.

I make spools all the time - mainly for sending my own ribbon but also as a stand alone product, but these are a special order for a customer in Japan who had some very specific proportions she wanted filled. Totally fine with me! They turned out so stinkin' cute.

A curated set of ribbon I call Cream Tea - it's always a little different but also always in the same colour palette and features a variety of widths and lengths. In this case I already heard from my customer Erin Medina, who shared this lovely image of her own work, wrapped in the widest of these ribbons in Taupe. I'm thinking about adding this colour in more fabrics.

You can see more of her work here

A silk Tarot deck wrap in Maeve, named for one of my all-time favourite show heroines.

A variety of recycled sari silk ribbon in 10 yard bundles

Chartreuse silk chiffon, fast becoming a best seller.

Bamboo ribbon - a new type I'm trying up that has a texture very similar to slubby unprocessed silk. It takes the colour so beautifully! This is Heather. It's a great vegan alternative to animal fibres and I love that it doesn't sacrifice any of the elegance of silk.

Wherever you are, I wish you a lovely week. Take care of yourself and someone else too, if you can ♡
